The Faculty was established in 2004, merging the Victoria University of Manchester’s Biological Sciences Department and Centre for the History of Science, Technology and Medicine, with UMIST’s Biomolecular Sciences and Optometry and Neuroscience departments. The term Life Sciences refers to teach a wider spectrum of science than just standard biology. Many of our courses, such as Optometry and Neuroscience, lie between the areas of biology and medicine. Whichever area you choose to study, you can be confident that you will receive the highest standards of teaching, from world-leading experts in their fields.
