Or feel free to stop by and see the process first hand, feel the hair, and ask any questions. ________________________________________ Methods: ♡ Fusion Hair Extensions: strand by strand installation using the highest grade of keratin glue, which are fused using heat and bonded 1cm from the hairs' roots. ♡ Silicone-Lined Microlinks: a strand by strand installation using microlinks internally lined with silicone, providing cushion between your hair and the metal link and extra gripping power, no glue, no heat. The hair strands arrive as i-tips and the microlinks are separated by colour. A microlink matching your hair colour is thread up to the root and the shoelace tip is inserted and clamped tightly. ♡ Nano Ring Extensions: strand by strand installation using the smallest beaded method available on the market to date. This method uses no glue or heat, and is similar to the microlink method but uses a bead 90% smaller than a microlink bead. ♡ Tape Ins: Strips of clear, double-sided tape are attached to the base of the human hair extensions and are sandwiched and sealed together a few centimeters from the scalp. Important Note: Loop and Lock and Microlinks are similar methods but are NOT the same. The loop and lock method comes as one unit, where the hair and the link are one and does not have a silicone lined metal link. Maintaining the hairs' cuticles and keeping their unidirectional alignment prevents matting and tangling and hair flows and moves naturally. The cuticle is the outermost layer of the hair. This is made up of cells that overlap (think of roofing), and protects the inside of the hair shaft from damage. Hair that is not remi or uni-directionally aligned, mattes and tangles because the two opposing directions rub. It will not matter what products or styling you do to non-remi, it will always tangle after movement. ________________________________________ Frequently asked questions: Q: How many strands are included for a full installation? A: 100 of thick strands weighing 1g. This is equivalent to 200 'regular' strands at 0.5g in weight. The weight and thickness of each strands is important to consider for achieving body, length and fullness without hair looking stringy and without 200+ crowding your scalp and making it uncomfortable to sleep, etc. Q: How long do hair extensions last? A: Indian Remy 6-9 months, European Remy 12+ months *Move up of extensions is required every 2-3 months to ensure proper and healthy wear Q: I heard extensions cause damage to your natural hair? A: Please read carefully. If your hair is strong (no conditions affecting the strength of your hair) and if the extensions are taken care of properly, hair extensions will not cause damage. Damage is related to a few factors: 1. the extension bond attached is heavier than the piece of hair it is attached to, causing too much pull and eventually ripping the natural hair 2. rough brushing 3. brushing with the wrong brush 4. waiting too long for a touch-up/move-up *this is key: when the extensions grow out, the hair between your root and the attachment starts to tangle/pucker/bunch together, if you leave this tangle for too long, it begins to create a dread, then upon removal it takes a lot of careful picking to remove this dread, weakening the follicle and potentially causing the hair to rip out. Please make sure you have your extensions installed by a professional who can assess whether extensions are right for you and who also provides you with care instructions to prevent the above mentioned. *It is each client's responsibility to ensure that their hair remains tangle free and that maintenance is done every 2-3 months. Q: How long does the installation take? A: Average is approx. 2 hours, sometimes longer depending on hair length, texture, and other factors (2-4 hours) Q: I have very thin hair, will extensions work with my hair type? A: I myself have extremely thin, fine, limp hair. Let me tell you, extensions have changed my life, which is why I am in this business. There are several installation tricks which allow for extensions to be worn without the bonds or links showing. I also recommend that clients with fine, weak hair use slightly less hair (which I price adjust) so that there is not as much weight pulling on your hair follicles. Q: Can you install extensions on ethnic, relaxed hair? A: Yes. I have several clients of ethnic origin (Jamaica, Egypt, etc) on whom I install both fusion and microlink extensions. However, at the moment, I do not offer sewn in options or frontal closures. Q: How are you able to charge so little, when other salons charge so much? A: My service is honest. I am not a "grab your money and run" stylist. I rely on repeat clientele and I take pride in my work. I only use salon quality hair. I am able to charge significantly less because I do not work on commission or charge by the hour. Q: "I have had a bad experience elsewhere. How is Lina's Locks different?" A: Every installation is different. What works for some may not work for others. Every extensionist is different as well. I always wear my own extensions (which I install myself) so you know exactly what you are getting, what the hair feels like, and what the bonds will look like.
