LCES-PTO is a non-profit association whose goal is to bring together the parents and teachers to best benefit the students of LCES!
The LCES PTO is an organization designed to be a bridge of communication between the parents and the teachers/administration of LCES. Our goals are to help further the success of our school, to build up the students, to support our teachers/staff/administration and to promote communication and unity. There are many things that the PTO provides for our school, such as funds to help replace playground equipment, provide funds for teachers at the start of the year to help them buy things needed for their classrooms, and those are to name just a few. There are so many more ways that we support LCES...and in more ways than financially. We also organize fundraisers, carnivals, movie nights and events not just for the kids and parents, but the community at large. you can find more information and stay up to date on happenings at the official LCES PTO FaceBook page. This page will be a way to communicate with our Executive Staff and hopefully answer any questions you may have. We will keep it updated quite frequently and want to keep everyone informed on volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, school activities and where your PTO dollars are going!! Our Executive Committtee for the 2016-2017 school year are: President....Jandi Matthews Vice President...Katherine Bennell Fundraising Chair...Crystal Johnson Treasurer.....Samantha Helton Secretary....Kathy Stewart Communications Chair...Chris Anderson To join the PTO, there is a small fee of just $5. You can contact any of our board members for more information on how to sign up!

Just as a disclaimer, the fundraiser sent home with the students this week is NOT a PTO fundraiser. This is one that the administration and teachers do each year. Any questions/concerns regarding this fundraiser should be addressed to the school office. PTO is not able to answer any questions regarding the Worlds Finest fundraiser. It sure is some yummy candy, though!!
Tomorrow will be a great day to wear those new scarfs, mittens, ear warmers, mufflers and hats that your child received for Christmas!! It's going to be a cold one so be sure to layer your childrens clothing!! Winter has certainly arrived!
School starts back TOMORROW!!! Are y'all ready?? We have an exciting second half of the school year ahead of us! Can you believe that the year is already halfway over?!?!?

Tomorrow is TACKY SWEATER DAY!!! Are you thinking that it's last minute and there's no way you can have a sweater/shirt ready by tomorrow?? Sure you can!! All you need is an old sweatshirt or long sleeved Tshirt, red, white or green; a glue gun; tinsel/garland; old ornament....and then just glue them on the shirt!!! Maybe add a Santa hat or reindeer antlers to their head! Just use your imagination...or you can always look to Pinterest for some great ideas!! Have fun with it...can't wait to see all the "Ugly/Tacky Sweaters" tomorrow!!!!
What an exciting week at LCES! Lots if things going on that you won't want to miss! Tomorrow is the 3rd grade Wax Museum presentation, from 9-10:30! Stop by and see what all they have been learning. They have worked very hard on this!!
Often we are asked about the Penguin Patch...the items are not of great quality...sure they can be purchased at a dollar store cheaper...but honestly, it really has nothing to do with the items we are selling. It's about seeing these childrens faces light up as they pick out, in their eyes, the perfect gift for mom, dad, sister, brother and so forth. They literally beam with pride. Today I watched a little boy come thru the line who only had $1. He had a $5 ring in his hand he wanted to purchase for his mother. You could tell he really wanted it. That's when one of our volunteers heard and told him to come on...he had "enough" for the ring. He was SOOO happy! Our volunteers have been like that all week...quietly slipping quarters to the kids when they needed a little extra. That's what it's all about. I hope the lucky mom who opens that package up on Christmas morning realizes how much that ring means...sure, it's plastic...but it's equivalent to a diamond in that child's eyes. That my friends is why we do the Penguin Patch each year...not about the items we are selling but for the children and what it means to them. And you really can't put a price tag on that, can you?
We have had a GREAT week so far at the Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe! Lots if excited little shoppers. Out volunteer elves have been busy helping the children pick out each gift, wrapping the gifts, answering questions, totaling up the items and keeping the store stocked! Thank you to all our special volunteers...you are so appreciated! Only ONE more day!
We have extra of all the shirts and hoodies!! If you're wanting one, contact one of the PTO Executives or inbox us. Amberly Bentley will be at the school today filling orders also, if anyone would like a shirt today. Remember....Friday's game against Washington-Wilkes is a RED OUT game...wouldn't our red tshirt look great?!?
Thank you for your Tshirt orders!!! We have been overwhelmed at the response!!! Everyone LOVES them and we couldn't be happier!! We will be doing another long-sleeve/Hoodie order in late September. The orders that were due this past week will be in by Friday!
Attention parents: Any dads out there that are available this afternoon or in the morning to help spread bark before open house, please contact Beth Antonakas!! We are wanting our school to look it's best before we open up to visitors and our children! Any time and talent that can be donated is appreciated!!!!
Teachers are back to work and Open House is Monday!! We can't wait to see each of you there, so be sure to stop by the cafeteria to purchase a tshirt and join the PTO!! We have many exciting things planned for the upcoming year and can't wait to share them with you!
Hope everyone has enjoyed their summer!! Hard to believe that we are less than (2) weeks away from the first day of the new school year! Your PTO Exec Board will be meeting next week to discuss plans for the new year! We also will reveal our new shirt designs soon! This years design will be our best yet! And remember, we would LOVE for some extra help and currently are seeking to add (2) more board members. If you would like to donate your time and talents to the LCES PTO, please message our President, Kim Cox. We would love to have you on board!
