Lipscomb Academy is a college preparatory, Christian school serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.
To say that there are a lot of schools in Nashville would be a vast understatement. There seems to be one on every corner: big, little, old, new, public, private, athletic, academic, all girls, all boys, conservative, and liberal. So why do we choose Lipscomb? Why do generation after generation of the same families, as well as new ones come to Lipscomb? What is so special about this place we call home? There is a uniqueness of purpose here that seems to set the mood of the entire campus. The atmosphere is friendly; teachers smile, and administrators take time to listen. Growth and learning are encouraged, not merely tolerated. Together we share victories and defeats, surprises and disappointments, life and death. "There's a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place."

Happy early birthday to high school principal Lanny Witt!
From Head of School Greg Glenn: I hope this information finds all of you enjoying a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I want to inform you that we plan to resume school tomorrow (Feb. 23) and classes will run on a normal schedule. I understand that Lipscomb Academy families live across the Nashville area and road conditions are not identical. Therefore, I want to encourage our parents, faculty and students to make the safest travel decisions for your individual circumstances. Due to the melting that has taken place over the weekend, the majority of the elementary and middle/high school campuses are ice-free. There are still a few isolated slicks spots, so please allow for extra time when traveling to and once on our campus. I look forward to seeing our students and faculty return to the classroom tomorrow.
Tomorrow's girls basketball game has been rescheduled to 3:30 p.m. at White's Creek. Come support the Lady Mustangs as they take on East!
From Head of School Greg Glenn: Are you stir crazy yet? Over the last few days, we have experienced just about every form of winter weather possible ? sleet, freezing rain, snow and now single digit temperatures. Many of us have enjoyed unexpected time with family and time to enjoy the beauty of God's handiwork in this winter weather as the world around us came to a sudden stop. I've talked to some of our faculty and students who have expressed to me that they are looking forward to being back in school. What a great testimony to the kind of community we have at Lipscomb Academy that we look forward to spending time together and learning together. As with any unexpected interruption to the daily schedule, I realize that not having school this week has created some difficulties in juggling making arrangements for supervision of your children with work responsibilities. The safety of our students, our faculty and our parents was the primary factor in the decision to close school this week. Today I have driven the streets around campus as well as some of the main roads, which seem to be in good shape. However, there are still a number of side roads and our own parking lots that are still treacherous both for parents transporting their children to school and those students who are driving. Like you, the safety of our Lipscomb Academy family is paramount. Because of that, Lipscomb Academy will be closed on Friday, Feb. 20. In addition to the safety of your children, we take learning very seriously. I appreciate the way our teachers have worked to try to maintain momentum in the learning process even when we are not all together at the school building. As you know, we have missed a valuable week of classwork and learning. Next week, we will meet with our faculty to assess what impact that has on our learning goals and objectives for the year. If we are able to make up the lost instructional time over the remainder of the semester we will do so. However, it may be necessary to make up a portion of those days in order to accomplish the learning objectives for our students for this year. We will be in touch with you in the coming days and weeks with updates on that. Thank you for you for trusting us to have the best interest of your children at heart these last few days. And thank you for support and patience as together we have navigated this unique situation.
After consulting with some of our administrative team, we feel that it is in the best interest of the safety of our students and faculty to be closed tomorrow Thursday, Feb. 19. We eagerly look forward to being able to have our students and faculty return to campus but will not make that decision until road and weather conditions permit safe travel. One event that I know many of you are eagerly anticipating is seeing our lady mustang basketball team compete in the district tournament championship. The district championship game is tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at Whites Creek. We will provide concrete details about the district championship game as soon as they are finalized. In addition, the lady mustangs will compete in the region tournament at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, in our high school gym We thank you for your patience and understanding.
Due to inclement weather, Lipscomb Academy will be closed Tuesday, Feb. 17. Teachers will be updating RenWeb with homework and study assignments and through school email. Therefore, all parents and students should monitor RenWeb and their email closely so that learning can continue outside the classroom. All after-school activities are once again tentatively cancelled unless conditions prove to be safe and a coach or sponsor directs you otherwise, in which case an administrator will have approved the event. However, as in all situations, families are urged to make the safest decision for their individual circumstances. Due to the nature of road conditions, and with the safety of our students at top of mind, an email and social media announcement will be sent as soon as a decision is made for each day.
Due to forecast of eminent inclement weather, Lipscomb Academy will be closed Monday, Feb. 16. All after-school activities are tentatively cancelled unless conditions prove to be safe and a coach or sponsor directs you otherwise, in which case an administrator will have approved the event. However, as in all circumstances, families are urged to make the safest decision for your individual circumstances.
