The LPBC is a privately funded catalyst for the Mid-South, annually hosting over 150 events and an array of media to engage and impact our community. The Lipscomb Pitts Breakfast Club (LPBC) is a privately-funded catalyst for the Mid-South. A team of more than 70 partner businesses, comprised of some of the largest employers in the world to mid-size and smaller firms, have come together to align resources and underwrite the cost of over 150 events each year to impact our community.

Description

Since the organization's establishment in 2005, the LPBC has served the community by hosting FREE business seminars and workshops, bringing in national guest speakers with our Signature Breakfast Series, hosting weekly executive lunches, and a variety of other FREE events to provide valuable content and foster teamwork and collaboration among business, nonprofit, government, and education leaders. We then provide easy, turnkey opportunities for individuals to become more engaged in the community and leverage our collective resources through volunteer days, action projects, nonprofit tours, fundraising, and more. Recent examples include tutoring after school, mentoring, scrubbing graffiti off buildings and bridges, washing the feet of over 2,500 kids and providing them with new shoes and socks, helping to coordinate three days of community-wide service with over 12,000 volunteers, picking up over 50,000 pounds of trash from McKellar Lake and the Mississippi River, spearheading the Memphis Police Department Fallen Officer Memorial, creating and promoting the Power of the Dollar Campaign ("buy local"), launching a civic pride effort called "Memphis Rocks," and hosting an annual Film Festival screening and telethon. Overall, the LPBC interacts with over 25,000 leaders in the Mid-South on a weekly basis and has received international recognition for its innovative approach to corporte philanthropy and for creating a new template for how businesses can come together to make a collective impact and weave giving back into every effort and event. Each Sunday we can be found in The Commercial Appeal with our "Giving Back" column. The column spotlights the great efforts of local nonprofits and offers creative ways to weave giving back into your normal life and business routine. The column is also featured each Thursday in their Weeklies, which are freely distributed to households across the Mid-South. Our LPBC Radio Show airs each Saturday from 1p-2p on News Radio 600 WREC. The show is focused on positives and features various business, nonprofit, education, and government leaders, who discuss important efforts, projects, news, and trends. Our TV show, The SPARK, airs the third Thursday of each month at 9p on WKNO-TV Channel 10. The 30 minute show focuses on positives from across the Mid-South and features individuals and businesses that are leading by example to create and fuel change. The show is produced in partnership with the LPBC, Media Source, and WKNO-TV.
