Description

Nearly a thousand productions have passed through the doors of the Playhouse, being produced on the 200-seat Mainstage and the 99-seat equity waiver Studio theatre. Every year over 30,000 patrons grace the theatre with their presence. Mainstage productions attract high-quality non-professional actors, producers, directors, designers, and dedicated community volunteers. The Studio theatre produces work of contemporary playwrights and aids the Playhouse’s dedication to bringing quality theatre to the Long Beach area. A new production opens every three weeks, making Long Beach Playhouse readily accessible for wide-ranging audience experiences. More than 300 community volunteers make Long Beach Playhouse productions happen through on-stage, backstage, and administrative assistance. Volunteers also guide the organization through governance and policy-making. Each year Long Beach Playhouse reaches out to young people of the community by offering a Summer Youth Workshop for aspiring theatre participants. The Playhouse continues its years of excellence through ticket sales, membership dues, and by the generous contributions of individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
