Sunday evening report. Not a whole lot to report. Waiting for design & architectural costs for the possible space in San Pedro Square Market. Still keeping an eye on other possibilities. Lou's Beach Shack?
It has been almost one week since we abruptly closed. As I promised an update on the search for a new Lou's is now here. There are currently 4 possibilities being explored. Doug Parker of WPDesign is coming down SJ on Monday to survey one of those locations with me.
Sunday will be our last day of business. Hopefully you come in for dinner to say goodbye.
The debate about kids in restaurants will be going on forever. How do you learn unless you experience but not at the invasion of others' good times. One thing for sure: clean up after them when they're through. The mess that is left behind sometimes is really unnecessary. I have always done that. Thoughts?
Hello all 2,567 friends of Lou's. This Wednesday is the official Ladies Night out in Willow Glen. We are featuring happy hour from 4-830pm with 5.00 martinis plus great food and beverages for all.
Tomorrow July 8 we start our Early Dining Specials from 4-6PM. 16.00 entrees including chowder or salad. Special runs every Monday-Thursday for dinner only.
This Saturday is Dancin on the Avenue. They close Lincoln Ave from Willow to Minnesota and have several stages with music for all and dancing is a must plus vendors of all kinds. You can hang out at Lou's from 2PM for drinks and bar food for a more civilized vantage point. We will be serving dinner from 4PM on
Summer is here. Our patio is a great place to have Happy Hour from 4-630pm Monday through Thursday. Enjoy the fountain and the Willow Glen scene. Dining for lunch or dinner is always available. Voted Open Table Diner's Choice.
Lou's can still provide large party availability on Mondays lunch or dinner. If your group has lunch or dinner meetings we can seat up to 85 in our dining room and a total of 120 including our patio.
The latest. Hopefully the new Lou's Beach Shack will be open in Spring of 2015. Remember this is a microcosm of what Lou's used to be. A walk up -take away. We will have a lot of your favorite "quicker" items and some familiar faces helping out in the new venue. The proposed purchase of an existing business in San Pedro Square Market is in escrow but we are not sure as to what the City and Health Department will require. Please check in once in a while to see how we're progressing. I look forward to seeing you again plus a bunch of new folks too. Tom
We have lost one of our favorite people who worked with us over the years at Lou's on San Carlos, Willow Glen and would have joined us at the Beach Shack. Our hearts goes out to the family of Manny Marquez.
Happy December 1st everyone. Today I signed a letter of intent with San Pedro Square Market to have Lou's Beach Shack as one of their restaurants. If you'd like to know more about the concept just check out the beta site (just an example of what it MIGHT be) on weebly. www.lousbeachshack.weebly.com
So there's been a back of the house designer and a restaurant construction expert with me this past week looking at possibilities for the new Lou's concept in SPSM. I have to state that based on my experience with the full-on dinner/lunch service we had in Willow Glen, it will be quite a bit more casual. San Pedro Square Market has been hopping since 2012 and gets a great mix of folks. There's plenty of public parking in the Market/San Pedfro Garage. The whole San Pedro Square has many options, most of which are doing OK. I did hear that one large place might be closing and another has financial problems. There still is one place in Campbell that might become a possibility but no response yet from the owners. So that's the Sunday night update. Hope you all have a decent week and I will be back next Sunday night or when something happens you might be interested in. Tom
So now it is time to end the rumors which have been running rampant the past few weeks. The space that is Lou's Village in Willow Glen Town Square has been sold to another food enterprise. We will be officially closing the restaurant down in early September. The reasons are personal. We encourage you to come in soon and say goodbye plus use up any gift cards that might still be out there. Hopefully you will say hello one more time before this incarnation also becomes history. Thanks to our staff who have always put service and great food first. There is a happy note to all this: a new location in a much more casual and smaller setting is being sought now. Lou's will eventually continue in another form. This page will stay active informing you of that development. You have been the best customers anyone could ask for. We were welcomed back with great anticipation and enthusiasm. You have stood by us as we went through our growing pains and rebirth. You have seen us get national awards and local praise. Thank you Open Table guests for your support. Thank you Willow Glen for being great neighbors. .................and thank you for being our friends. It is with great reluctance that I click the post button.
