Love Slings Safety Love Slings was launched in 2013 by Katharine Grant. Following the birth of my daughter in 2012 who I carried in a homemade stretchy wrap, I decided to start my own business making and selling slings and wraps. All of the stretchy wraps are made of 100% cotton Jersey and there are two thicknesses available. The Standard Stretchy wrap weighs 185gsm and the Summer Stretchy wrap weighs 140gsm. Both are approximately 5 metres in length and approximately 50 cm in width. I allow a little extra width and length to allow for shrinking during washing. The material is sourced from a UK company and is dyed in the UK. It is therefore subject to UK laws with regards to dyes, flammability etc. The special edition and custom made Tie Dye wraps are dyed by Jen’s Creative Clothing There is currently no requirement in the UK for baby carriers to be safety tested although this is obviously best practice. Having only been running for a short time, I cannot yet afford this but hope to get all of my wraps tested to the British Safety Standard for Baby Carriers EN13209-2-2005 by the end of 2014. I therefore only give an indication of what weight/age baby the stretchy wraps can carry. Individual buyers must use their discretion based on baby’s weight and their mobility/movement in the stretchy. I have Public Liability and Product Liability Insurance to the value of £1 million. I am due to be a trained Babywearing Peer Supporter (completing my training with Slingbaby on 28th June 2014. I endeavour to complete my Babywearing Consultancy Course by the end of 2014. Guidance for use and TICKS guidelines (see below) are provided with all of the slings and wraps sold by Love Slings. I also include a letter, which encourages the buyer to seek support and help from other babywearing mothers in their area by finding a local sling meet. I always endeavour to speak to my customers either face to face if possible or via facebook to provide the information (links on the internet etc) and resources that will help them.
