Lowell High School is a four-year college preparatory school located in San Francisco, California. Founded in 1856, Lowell is the oldest public high school west of the Mississippi. Admission to Lowell is merit-based and highly competitive. The school accepts students who demonstrate academic excellence and the drive to pursue an unusually rigorous college preparatory program. Lowell seeks to develop a well-rounded student and has over 90 active student clubs and service organizations, offers more than 30 Advanced Placement courses, fields 32 teams playing 27 sports, offers classes in 9 world languages, and boasts the largest visual and performing arts department in the city.
