Description

Lydian Lessons seeks to create a diverse musical community that caters to students of all backgrounds, ages and abilities through customized in-home or in-school private and small group instruction. Owned and operated by experienced Berklee College of Music Alumni, Lydian Lessons strives to prepare each student for his or her personal definition of musical success, and utilizes Berklee resources and Berklee Method curriculum in doing so. At Lydian Lessons, we specialize in contemporary music performance and production, but still offer the necessary classical foundation simultaneously. With implementing our strategic mentoring method, the student acquires classical knowledge and studies classical technique while still pursuing the genre of his or her choice. The weekly one-on-one setting of our lesson model allows for the student and instructor to build and maintain a unique, life-long connection. All of our instructors are graduates of the prestigious Berklee College of Music and are well-versed in a variety of instruments and genres, in addition to being active musicians in the music industry. As most of our instructors are proficient on two or more instruments, students are often exposed to an additional instrument (for no additional cost) during their one-hour lesson period. Lydian Lessons specializes in the instruction of piano, guitar, violin, voice, bass, drums, music theory, songwriting and music production, but can accommodate students with interest in other areas. Lessons are offered on a weekly basis in a one-on-one or small group setting. Students are paired with qualified Lydian Lessons instructors who will work with the student year-round on the instrument of their choice. We accept all students age five and older. Lessons Offered: Piano Guitar Voice Violin Bass Drums Songwriting Music Theory Scheduling Fall and Spring Semesters consist of 16 instruction hours, although there are 17 weeks in each semester. Summer Semester consists of 12 instruction hours, although there are 13 weeks in the semester. The additional week serves as a make-up week (if applicable), or week off if no make-ups are owed. Please refer to our calendar for more detailed information. Cancellation Policy Students are entitled to two excused cancellations per semester. Official cancellations must be approved of at least 24 hours in advance. A make-up lesson will be scheduled between the student and instructor directly, and must take place within one week of the missed lesson OR during make-up week. Any additional cancellations within the same semester are nonrefundable. Holidays Lydian Lessons observes Thanksgiving Eve/Day. Any lessons that fall on the aforementioned days will be rescheduled to make-up week. Additionally, there is a two-week December break, which conveniently falls between Fall and Spring Semester. There is also a two-week May break which falls between Spring and Summer Semester. Performances As all of our instructors are performing artists and active musicians, performance opportunities appear often and in various ways. Perhaps a church needs a substitute drummer for a service, and one of our students is prepared for the opportunity. In this case, our drum instructor may recommend the student for the performance! Maybe our voice instructor's background vocalist caught a last-minute cold and can't make the parade, it's very probable that a student could have the opportunity to open for Stevie Wonder! In addition to the unplanned opportunities, we also hold one performance per year at a contemporary music setting in Boston, and one in Atlanta.
