Today marks the start of a new dawn and era for me. September 8th, 2014 I became the 9th team owner in the Piedmont Youth Football League. I started with 1 person, me... I called upon the greatest group of not just friends, family, and coworkers but the finest Men and Women I knew. We grew an organization that stands today as THE MALLARD CREEK JAGUARS. We worked hard to seek out not the best players but the best character, we are a world class act. I don't brag about the size, speed, athleticism, or toughness of either of my players and cheerleaders. I do brag about the model citizens they are and excellent student athletes. Throughout our organization you will immediately see the roots that make us stand strong, connected are the branches that complete us. Today will be a first for us in many areas, we are not worried about any of those that end in Stat, we will focus on those that end in Team and Family. I want to pray for coaching staff, Parents, and all my athletes. The hard work they put in from March until Now is impeccable hardworking individuals and great dedication from the parents. Regardless of the final outcome, we are victorious! Let's go Jags!

Small things… The difference between BUT or NOW. That was an good pass, BUT… can stop the athlete from hearing the compliment. That was a good pass, NOW – keeps the athlete tracking with you through the correction, able to accept a challenge and get to the next performance level. Let's go Jaguars!!!

Mallard Creek Jaguars rosters are almost complete, here are the two needs for our JV team 10-11 year old athlete that can throw the ball and play quarterback, this is an immediate need. Also if you have a child who did not make weight to play Pop Warner or other league we need a 10-11 year old lineman less than 160lbs.

Coach Newton has decided to complete the Ice Water Challenge... The challenge will be to raise concussion awareness as well as proper apparel to compete safely... I will complete the challenge and call out several parents and Jaguar supporters to donate $25 & challenge or $50 if you do not complete the challenge... The donation would go directly to new jerseys and helmets... Let's Go Jaguars

Incoming text from a parent that joined us just yesterday... Good morning coaches, this is Vincent father, first I would like to thank you for allowing my son to be part of a great and spiritual team. These days that's important. Also, in reference to Saturday he has a karate belt promotion at 11am that was arranged before we knew about practice ; however, for the rest of the remaining Saturdays he can endure the complete schedule. Thank you very much

I get parents that often tell us that our registration fees and cost are exorbitant and not economical. Unfortunately many of those parents do not receive the proper information as to what they are paying for and receiving. So many times they "rate" shop or ring chase, very dangerous in both situations. Before deciding on what it is you are agreeing to in regards to selection instead of this order PAY, WINNING RECORD, UNIFORMS, LOCATION, PERSONAL TEAM; try this order MORAL DISPOSITION, PARENTAL COHESIVENESS, EXCELLENT COACHING, DISCIPLINE, TECHNIQUE, PREPARATION, FAMILY ENVIRONMENT, FINALLY QUALITY RESULTS. As an organization we are fairly competitive with our financial expectations, there are many unbeknownst cost associated with running and maintaining a successful organization. We have training aids, team transportation, banquet, trophies, uniforms, helmets, quality playing and practice fields, referees, fundraising purchases, balls and other equipment. Not to mention graphic design and Web Design needs, printing and signs also. Here is an example of a breakdown of where your child fees go with OUR program: 200 - 140 per child (fields, refs, trophies, helmet, uniform, shoulder pads and insurance), 60 (banquets, trophies, travel). As you can see with my example there is no way to make it easier. Consider also we have scholarships that I squeeze out for athletes who want and deserve to play but it's just not economical right now. So the next time you are choosing a team consider all that I spoke to just now. Yeah, they may charge 150 but what more are you receiving for 50 dollars less? I can tell you what you will not receive and that's satisfaction with your child's progress. -Coach Newton

“It is important to have a philosophy of life. I encouraged all our Jaguars at Mallard Creek to have the ‘Three Bones’ philosophy. The first bone I wanted them to have is a funny bone; to always have a sense of humor and to enjoy and laugh each day, especially if it comes at their own expense, and to take responsibility seriously, but never themselves too seriously. The second bone I wanted them to have is a wishbone; to think big so their seeds will grow, to hitch their wagon to the proverbial star and to have goals and lofty ideals. The third and probably most important bone is backbone. This gives you the gumption, the get up and go, the courage, the desire to excel, the motivation to make all your dreams come true and to reach all your high goals and ambitions. And all in all it is your first step in being a strong you” - Coach Newton

Don’t let your emotions give your opponent an advantage – give them nothing to focus on or draw strength from. Not frustration, fatigue, anger or arrogance – Nothing! The only thing they should be able to read is stoic determination, positive energy and fearless effort. Compete, both mentally and physically...

A common trait from my players who were the most successful was a strong desire to compete, learn and embracing being coached. Learn to take correction as a compliment... - Coach Newton!

Being critical of the coach or teacher in public doesn’t do anything helpful – same is true for coaches being critical of parents in public. When people choose to complain, they are identifying that there is a problem but not taking any responsibility for the solution. If you have trouble with another adult, go directly to them and let other people form their own opinions...
