Mana threads is a brand of female active wear inspired by Vermont’s outdoor life style and a love for Brazilian culture.
About us =) Mana threads is a Vermont owned clothing brand of female active wear inspired by Vermont’s outdoor life style combined with the owner’s passion for the colors, energy, and vibrancy of Brazil. All the clothes are designed in Vermont by the owner, Amelia, and are manufactured in Brasil by her sister, Carolina, and their seamstress Vilma. Mana’s clothes are made with love and care and each piece has our fingerprint as we have a small and intimate production. We believe in healthy living, fair production practices, and in supporting our local communities. Mana /Mä Nə/ (noun) Brasilian Portuguese slang for sisters Mana Threads is the realized dream of 2 Brasilian sisters (Amelia and Carolina) to combine their passion for the outdoor lifestyle of Vermont with their love for the cultural vibrancy and color of Brasil to create a stylish, fun, and expressive brand of female active wear. Amelia moved from Brasil to Vermont in 2008 and over the next 6 years developed a passion for the active lifestyle that Vermont provided. Now an avid SUP surfer and mountain biker, Amelia is always looking for the next wave or trail. It was through her search for active wear to compliment her lifestyle that the idea of having her own clothing line was born. Amelia is always looking for fun and exciting activities and wanted a clothing style that follows suit. A personal trainer by trade Amelia was always sporting new styles at the gym. In 2012 she vacationed in Brasil and returned with a suitcase full of Brasilian fitness clothing, a decision that would change her life. Wearing these bright, fun, and unique patterns in front of her clients gave her a reputation for style that matches her personality and she saw an opportunity. The positive feedback and request to buy her clothes pushed Amelia to act. In 2013 Amelia connected with her sister Carolina and floated the idea of a partnership; they both design the clothes, Carolina makes the clothing in Brasil, and Amelia markets and sells Mana Threads in Vermont. The key element and core principle of their business was to have their own line of clothing where Amelia and Carolina have control of and are intimately involved with all facets of the process…no mass production! They pick the fabrics and create the designs for each collection and work directly with their own seamstresses to offer unique styles to their customers. The name Mana Threads fit naturally as this idea developed in to a brand as a result of these 2 sisters coming together to realize their combined vision. Mana Threads was originally planned to be a web-only store, but an opportunity to open on Church Street surprisingly appeared when a key location became available just before Carolina’s first shipment to Amelia was delivered. The opportunity to get face-to-face feedback and to build relationships with customers was a “no-brainer” and Amelia jumped at the opportunity, establishing a home base in Burlington Vermont. The process from start to finish has been a journey that the ladies of Mana Threads are proud of and excited to bring to women searching for differentiation in their clothing. The slogan of the brand Mana Threads says it all… “Stand-Out” … express yourself in all that you do, not just in your activities, but in how you live your life. It’s how Amelia and Carolina want to live their lives. They believe in giving back to the local community, being involved and active with their families and friends, and in doing things with passion and vigor. Embrace who you are and express yourself through your style…we are Mana Threads !!
