The recent news that one of our employees saw Shane walking on Main Street about 45 minutes to an hour after he left Kildare's is consistent with information we discovered when interviewing our employees last week. When we learned this information in our internal investigations, we shared this information immediately with authorities with the hope that it would help find Shane. We did not share this information in our press conference or statement because we were only able to comment about the time Shane spent within our building. We felt this was an important piece of the investigation and we did not want to speak about it before the authorities verified it. We did not want to speculate about what occurred after Shane left our building. We are hopeful that the information our employee shared about seeing Shane on Main Street after 2am will help find Shane. #HelpFindShane #FindShane
Since we heard the devastating news of Shane Montgomery’s disappearance, we have diligently been working with FBI and Philadelphia Police Department to assist in any way we can. Kildare's has released two full statements regarding the details we were able to confirm with authorities about the time Shane spent in our restaurant. We waited to make any statements until we had the time to interview all staff members, guests and share our information with the proper authorities. We wanted to make sure we had adequate time for research, investigation and interviews so we knew exactly what went on within our establishment. Although we know speculation, rumors and finger pointing is expected - it takes away from the focus - which is finding Shane. We have stayed quiet and allowed people to voice their opinions, theories and anger for the past several days, but as of today we are asking for no other posts on our page. Our social media pages have been overrun with speculation that is causing conflict between our customers and taking away from time and energy that could potentially be used in helping to locate Shane. We are currently asking for no comments or further remarks on our Facebook page and we have deleted those that have been posted - both positive and negative - for the time being, as they are in no way aiding in this most important search. If you have any facts, questions or concerns - please direct them to the authorities. Kildare's has made two public statements regarding Shane's disappearance. These statements reflect what we know to be accurate based on our detailed four day internal investigations. Thank you for your support and patronage. #HelpFindShane. - Kildare's Manayunk
Please see the following for the transcript from our press conference this afternoon. We have not officially commented to any member of the press until today - any information stating otherwise is incorrect. #HelpFindShane "We decided to call this press conference because we wanted to put to rest various false reports regarding the disappearance of Shane Montgomery. I’ll be reading a statement and will not be taking any questions afterwards. Based on our exhaustive internal investigation and statements made to investigators and backed up by witnesses, staff members and relatives… Shane Montgomery left Kildare’s at approximately 1:50am on November 27. At Kildare's Restaurants we have very specific standard operating procedures to ensure the safety of our guests. We expect every member of our staff and management team to act in accordance with these procedures and act in the best interest of our guests. We have completed four days of detailed investigations and any employees with knowledge about Shane's interactions in this restaurant have given their statements to the police and the FBI. Based on four days of detailed investigations, staff interviews and computer data these are the facts as we understand them: 1. About 1:50am Shane bumped into the DJ booth. The DJ confirmed that Shane accidentally bumped into his booth but it was not a significant issue and Shane was polite and respectful during their interaction which lasted just a few seconds and the DJ did not see Shane again. 2. At that time Shane's relative, who is a Kildare’s employee, told him it was closing time and time to go. He walked with Shane downstairs at that point the two approached the front door area where security then walked with Shane to the front door. The lights were coming up, the music was shutting down and guests were beginning to leave for the evening as the restaurant was in its closing mode. Other than the front door staff, Shane did not have any interaction with any other management or security staff or cause a disruption as he left the restaurant. He was respectful and left the premise on his own. 3. The manager working at the door at the time Shane left the building had no interaction with Shane. This manager was also not presented with any information to indicate that Shane was causing a problem or intoxicated, and stated that she noticed nothing out of the ordinary other than guests leaving the building. 4. The security person working the door of Kildare's when Shane walked out of the building did not have any issues or altercations with Shane. Shane politely left the building walking through the front door. Shane was courteous and friendly as he left the building and he did not cause any concern for the manager or door security. 5. When Shane left our building it appears he went to the left of the front door walking South on Main Street. 6. After searching computer records it appears Shane had a tab at the bar that totaled $17. This would be the equivalent to 3 Craft Beers. Some reports suggest that Shane was thrown out of Kildare's in an intoxicated condition needing a cab or other assistance. Based on our investigation Shane did not appear to be over-served by our staff and at no point was there any confrontation when he was leaving the premises. His relative, an employee of Kildare's, walked with him to the front door area and his interactions with our staff were polite, courteous, and reasonable. Shane's family and friends have stated that Shane was not intoxicated when he left the restaurant and the information we have found in our investigations in the past four days is consistent with those statements. As a father, this is a heartbreaking situation and we will continue to share any information with the authorities to help find Shane. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shane's family and as you know, to facilitate the search efforts Kildare's is adding an additional $10,000 to the reward. As this is an active investigation, we are referring all questions to the FBI and the Philadelphia Police Department. Thank you all for coming." - Jim Townsend, Director of Operation, Kildare's Irish Pubs
At Kildare's Restaurants we take every aspect of customer service and safety very seriously. The disappearance of Shane Montgomery is extremely upsetting to our staff and management, this hits home for us because one of Shane's family members is an employee at Kildare's Manayunk. We have been working closely with the Philadelphia Police Department and the FBI. To facilitate the search efforts, Kildare's is adding an additional $10,000 to the reward. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shane's family during this time. Shane was a well liked, friendly customer known to our staff and the establishment next door. As this is an active investigation, we are referring all questions to the FBI and/or Philadelphia Police Department
We will be closed during the vigil for Shane Montgomery. #HelpFindShane
