Description

The Marine Animal Response Society (MARS) is a charitable organization dedicated to marine animal conservation in the Maritimes. The society, formerly known as the Nova Scotia Stranding Network, was established by a group of volunteers in 1990 to monitor and respond to strandings and incidental catches of marine mammals. Marine mammals (whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals and walrus) are a vital component to the marine ecosystem. In the Maritimes there are at least 20 species of marine mammals found in our waters seasonally or year-round. Our focus is to instil a sense of marine environment stewardship in Maritimers by promoting a better understanding of the oceans and its inhabitants through education, research and response.

Bide Awhile *A Humane Shelter For Lost & Homeless Animals* www.bideawhile.org The very heart of Bide Awhile comes from the respect we have for our animal friends, and the value we put on our relationships with them. We believe that both human and animal lives are enhanced when they come together and because of this, we work hard to place animals in loving home environments. Because we believe in creating a humane community, we strive to educate the public about many topics, including pet ownership, the importance of spaying and neutering, and other animal issues.
