Description

A visit to Marwell Wildlife is a chance to get close to the wonders of the natural world – and play a big part in helping to save them. From ring-tailed coatis to elegant giraffe – our 140-acre park is home to an incredible range of exotic and endangered species, in beautiful, landscaped surroundings. Experience the African wilderness first hand in our biggest exhibit to date - ‘Wild Explorers’. Visitors are immersed in the animals’ environment as they take in some incredible views of white rhino, zebra and scimitar-horned oryx. The exhibit provides a range of entertaining activities, both indoors and out, focussed on discovery, learning and the natural history of these magnificent creatures. Marwell is actively involved in conserving these three species so its setting and design reveals how we study and observe these animals in the wild.

General Info

Just by visiting Marwell Wildlife, you’ll be making a big contribution to our projects to conserve species and habitats, both here in Hampshire and around the world. Our work is a lot more widespread and influential than you might realise. Marwell Wildlife is about being as active or as relaxed as you want. There are three play areas where children can run wild while you take a well-earned break. Enjoy spectacular views of our African Valley, while you eat and drink at Café Graze, or its attached picnic area. There’s also a free road train to help you get around. Best of all, you can combine an unforgettable day out with a chance to learn all about the natural world and the challenges it faces. If you're loopy for lemurs, be sure to look out for Lemur Loop - A walkthrough exhibit including several species of lemurs, a great way to immerse yourself in their exciting environment. Guests can see the loveable lemur troop through the indoor viewing area in the Evolution Hub and can walk alongside the adorable lemurs in their outdoor walkthrough area. Marwell’s biggest ever exhibit, the new ‘Energy for Life’ Tropical House is now open to the public. Hot on the heels of Wild Explorers, this innovative and sustainable exhibit marks the second phase of a £17million investment programme at Marwell over the next decade, creating improved habitats for animals and more immersive experiences for guests. Spanning two levels with fantastic vantage points, guests can experience face-to-face encounters with a diversity of wildlife and exotic plants in a tropical climate, while learning about the flow of energy through life. Listen to the calls of the yellow-throated frogs below a cascading waterfall, admire Linné’s two-toed sloth, Rica, in the lush forest canopy and spot the group of pygmy marmosets exploring their own island above the exhibit’s impressive 70,000-litre aquarium, which is home to 2,500 fish!
