Description
In 1981, at the age of 18, I sold my toy car collection for the princely sum of £1,000.00. This is a value of just under £6,000.00 today but, having kept a list of all the models I had sold, I estimate that at today's prices I would have to spend in the region of £15,000.00 to buy all those models again retail. This got me thinking...........and in 2004 I decided to start re-collecting all those lost models. But how would I do it as I certainly didn't have thousands of pounds sloshing around! I decided to go to toy auctions, buy job lots of toys, keep the models I needed and sell the rest. And the rest is history. I am very good at the 'sell the rest' bit of the deal but I am not that good at keeping the treasured ones. I have only managed to re-collected about a third of my collection in 10 years! Oh well, I'll just have to keep buying and selling I suppose.
