Mater Academy, Inc. is a not-for-profit educational organization operating 13 high performing charter schools in South Florida. The organization’s first charter school, Mater Academy Elementary, was established in the city of Hialeah Gardens in 1998 and was one of the first charter schools to open in Miami-Dade County. Today, Mater Academy schools serve more than 6,300 students in grades Pre-K through 12. In establishing innovative programs, Mater Academy schools have identified three basic concepts: •a multi-age learning environment that allows children to learn and progress at their individual pace •small class sizes in a culture that supports personalized instruction •a parental involvement program to ensure that all parents play an active role in the education of their children
