Manitoba Association of Visual Language Interpreters Visual Language Interpreters provide interpreting services between Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people. Working languages include English and American Sign Language (A.S.L.). The profession is guided by a Code of Ethics. M.A.V.L.I is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors. We hold annual general meetings, and monthly business meetings which are open to any interested persons. Board members are elected for two year terms. We are a provincial chapter of a national governing body called A.V.L.I.C. (Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada).
Our mission is to communicate the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to every young person in Winnipeg and the surrounding area.
The Lodge, formerly the New Occidental Hotel, offers housing for 45 people and runs an arts and life skills resource centre for residents and community members, many of whom struggle with mental health issues and homelessness.
