Melbourne Museum explores life in Victoria, from our natural environment to our culture and history. Located in Carlton Gardens (Melbourne, Australia), opposite the World Heritage Listed Royal Exhibition Building, the award-winning Melbourne Museum houses a permanent collection in eight galleries, including one just for children. Melbourne Museum also features the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Cultural Centre and is a space for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people to connect with Victoria’s Koorie (south eastern Aboriginal) people. Museum Victoria's Dr. Erich Fitzgerald is pictured with ‘Osteographie des cetaces vivants et fossils’ (1868) and a specimen of a Ganges River Dolphin. According to Erich the book is still useful to palaeontologists nearly 150 years later, due to the quality and accuracy of the illustrations.
