About the School Psychology Program The Miami University School Psychology graduate program seeks to prepare school psychologists to provide consultation, assessment, mental health, and intervention services for schools and school children. School psychologists, by working with students, teachers, parents, administrators, and with members of the community promote learning environments in which all children can be helped to achieve their potential. Miami’s program emphasizes the provision of services to individual schools and students, in addition to attaining a functional understanding of systems consultation and the ability to promote and implement primary and secondary prevention programs for school problems. The combined Master’s/Educational Specialist program includes two years of full-time study on campus plus one full-time school year as a salaried intern in a cooperating school district. Over the past 35 years, over 325 graduates have been successful in acquiring positions as school psychologists in Ohio and throughout the nation. Over these years there has been 100 percent employment, with many graduates receiving multiple job offers.
