Midwifery and Women’s Health Care (MWHC) believes in the collaborative model of care and therefore is a mixed practice of both Direct Entry Midwives (CDM's) and Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM's). The midwives of MWHC exclusively utilize Anchorage Birth Center for all of their out-of-hospital birth needs (more info about Anchorage Birth Center can be found at www.anchoragebirthcenter.org). If a woman’s risk status increases, the midwives work in close collaboration with physicians to provide the safest care. Our CNM's also have admitting privileges at Providence Hospital, prescriptive authority, and offer well-woman care to women between the ages of 13 and 65.
