Description

Mikey's Place was created in 2006 in an effort to provide families with valuable information about community and state resources in Texas for children with disabilities. We are the sole publisher of Mikey's Guide, a comprehensive guide to specialized summer camps in Houston and Texas, sports & recreational activities in Houston, year-round classes, special needs ministries, private schools, teen & adult activities/programs, educational & technology resources and more. It is our goal to expand Mikey's Guide every 2 years to contain up-to-date information as it becomes available and to be the most complete guide to disability services in the Greater Houston area. There is information for most disability and age groups. If you are moving to Houston, this is a great resource for you to use as you navigate life in a new city with your child who has disability. In addition to publishing Mikey's Guide, we also offer "camperships" to families who are in need of financial assistance to send their child to a specialized summer camp. Funds vary from year to year; camperships are awarded based on need and the number of camperships may vary each year. We also host an annual "Special Needs Summer Camp & Resource Fair" the first Saturday of February so families can meet face-to-face with camp organizations and other service providers.
