Thank you everyone who supported MCSC's YouthBuild participants as they raised funds for their service project this past Wednesday. We are happy to announce that we exceeded our fundraising goal! The proceeds will be used to build birdhouses with the children from the Hillside Community Resource Center.
The Milwaukee Community Service Corps Youthbuild Project Leadership Council is hosting a grilled hotdog lunch fundraiser. The Leadership Council will use hotdog proceeds to build bird houses with the children at Hillside Family Resource Center!!! WHEN: 4/10/13 from 11:30 a.m. until late afternoon WHERE: 1441 N. 7th St. (MCSC Headquarters) YOUR HOSTS: The Youthbuild Project Leadership Council is made up of young people ages 18 – 24 who are currently enrolled in the MCSC vocational training program. These future leaders are preparing to work in the trades, complete GEDs, and earn valuable vocational certifications. As part of the program, they develop their own community service projects. This spring they will spend time working directly with the children at Hillside Family Resource Center teaching them to build bird houses that will beautify the neighborhood. Swing by on Wednesday for an early taste of summer and an easy lunch. This is a chance to meet the great young leaders of MCSC and help them raise funds needed to build the birdhouses! The mission of the Milwaukee Community Service Corps (MCSC) is to provide education, life skills, and job training opportunities for Milwaukee’s at-risk young adults that allow them to earn wages while improving the community and the environment.
The second cohort of individuals began MCSC orientation today! This week the new potential crew members will learn about MCSC programming, resources in the community and participate in team building activities. We are very excited to expand our MCSC team!

MCSC is proud to announce we have received a grant from the Jane Bradley Pettit Foundation. The funds provided by the Jane Bradley Pettit Foundation will help support educational services for up to 175 youth in 2015. MCSC attended the Sojourner Family Peace Center Construction Job Fair yesterday at ManPower. We heard some great conversations about upcoming construction projects in the Milwaukee region and were able to begin recruiting for our January 2015 orientation.

MCSC has been busy in the last year. We have updated our educational programming, expanded our environmental remediation work, and started working on garage deconstructions around the City of Milwaukee.
