Mimsi is an organization that trains volunteers to delivers vital prenatal health care to the women of rural Haiti and other parts of the developing world. Mimsi is a nonprofit organization that is committed to delivering vital, life-saving prenatal healthcare to the women of rural Haiti and other parts of the developing world. Right now, we train community volunteers on how to perform prenatal care and operate free medical clinics in villages across the country's southern region, providing services that range from simple pregnancy testing to in-depth ultrasound imaging, essential medication regimens, and life-preserving treatment. Mimsi employs a unique system of care unequaled by any other prenatal resource in Haiti. Our staff consists of doctors, nurses, and community health volunteers that together are able to treat pregnant women in underserved communities previously considered out of medical reach. Mimsi monitors patients on a monthly basis and follows each pregnancy to term, ensuring that these soon-to-be mothers receive the consistent, high-quality health care they deserve.

Description

Mimsi International aims to address the limited access that many pregnant women have to life-saving prenatal health care in the developing world. Hundreds of thousands of mothers are dying annually due to complications of pregnancy and childbirth. In Haiti, pregnancy-related conditions are the number one killer of women. Mimsi endeavors to change that reality. By training a large body of community volunteers that work side by side with medical professionals, we provide prenatal surveillance and treatment to previously inaccessible rural populations. Mimsi also utilizes specially-designed cloud-based software to accelerate the reporting of a patient's health status, improving the communication and coordination of medical workers in the field. This allows us to better identify and treat high-risk patients who otherwise would fall victim to a preventable condition. The implementation of our systems in mobile clinics and in new, sustainable health centers is revolutionizing the quality of prenatal care in underserved communities, and Mimsi is positioning itself in countries with the highest maternal mortality rates to make a real difference in the lives of women across the globe.
