The Guild was founded in 1978 as a non-profit community based volunteer organization with a mandate to operate as a community resource in the art and craft of pottery. The Guild advances the Art & Craft of pottery by providing a studio for its members, and classes (adult and children) for those in the community interested in the craft Our Mission Mississauga Potters' Guild is a community of clay artists and enthusiasts that provide a sutdio and opportunities to explore, create, share and appreciate their craft. Our Vision To bring together people who have a common interest in pottery and ceramic art. To provide a safe, well equipped, affordable studio with sufficient space to meet the needs of the membership. To encourage skill development by providing various educational and development opportunities for the exchange of ideas and technical information. To provide outlets for the exhibition and sale of ceramic wares produced by all members. To require of the members a willingness to participate in the operation and fiscal viability of the guide to achieve the mission. The Guild sustains its efforts through membership and class fees, and by holding craft sales and workshops. It is also the grateful recipient of grants from the Mississauga Arts Council and The Ontario Trillium Foundation. Monthly meetings are open to visitors and include demonstrations and workshops presented by invited guest speakers and guild members. There is also a lending library of books, periodicals and tapes for members. Regular newsletters keep members informed on guild and other ceramic related activities in the region and distribute information on sales and events where members can leard, attend and sell their wares. The guild space expands into 2 units within the plaza. 3A houses our resident artist members and is a fully equipped pottery studio with pottery wheels, a slab roller, kilns, and more equipment. In 2012 Mississauga Potters' Guild acquired unit 3B which is our teaching studio, a fully operational teaching pottery studio used for classes, workshops and special events. In the front of unit 3B there is a multi-functional space used for exhibitions, gallery shows, private functions and sales events. Both units are joined together and fully used by our membership.
