Dr. Molly Szerlip is an interventional cardiologist at The Heart Hospital Baylor Plano and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - McKinney. She received her MD at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA and continued there for internal medicine residency. Upon completion of residency she was on active duty as an academic internist in the US Army at Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center. After her military obligation, she continued her training in cardiology at the Medical College of Georgia where she was Chief Fellow. She then went on to do her interventional cardiology fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital in Michigan. Dr. Szerlip joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Arizona before moving to Texas. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology. At the University of Arizona, Dr. Szerlip helped develop the structural heart program which was highlighted by the first percutaneous aortic valve program in Tucson. She was also Director of the Coronary Hybrid Revascularization program where she worked closely with the cardiothoracic surgeons in the combination of stenting the coronaries and robotic bypass. She is an expert in percutaneous assist devices, and lectures at major meetings about this technology. Her interests include peripheral vascular disease and structural heart disease with an emphasis on percutaneous aortic valve replacement and the closure of paravalvular leaks. She performs high risk PCI, CTO and rotational atherectomy. She is an expert in women’s cardiovascular health and gender differences in interventional cardiology. She is also a highly skilled radial operator for her cardiac catheterizations. Dr. Szerlip is a fellow of the American College of Physician, the American College of Cardiology, and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions. She is married and has 2 daughters and 2 stepsons. She enjoys riding horses and competing in dressage and eventing.
