The model of a Trust-based partnership was agreed by Environment and Heritage Service, now Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) and Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB), in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), and the three local authorities of Banbridge, Down and Newry & Mourne respectively. The Trust works in four key areas as follows: * Natural Environment Enhancement and Protection * Visitor Management and Visitor Services * Built and Cultural Heritage * Sustainable Tourism
