at Sidgwick Avenue, Cambridge , CB3 9DA United Kingdom
The Museum of Classical Archaeology is one of the few surviving collections of plaster casts of Greek & Roman sculpture in the world. We have about four hundred and fifty casts on view in our purpose-built cast gallery, housed in the Faculty of Classics.
Cross the Silver Street Bridge, pass under the leafy canopy of Sidgwick Avenue and leave central Cambridge behind to discover a whole new world. The Museum of Classical Archaeology is home to over 600 casts in total. Many are historical objects in their own right, standing testament to the origins of the collection in the Fitzwilliam Museum in the 18th century. Today, the casts are not only an educational resource but also have their own story to tell about the history of collecting and of classical archaeology...
