NANCY CHARTIER STUDIOS FILM & TELEVISION ACTING www.nancychartierstudios.com
Nancy Chartier is a working actor and has been coaching actors since 1995. She loves and is passionate about acting, but her favorite thing is when her "stars" are working! (Once you start with her, you are one of her stars, or "star babies" if you started as a child-no matter how old you get:) She loves empowering actors to be brilliant and to trust your creative instincts and ultimately yourselves. She wants you to feel safe enough to be able to take risks, learn from mistakes so you hopefull only make them once, or learn how to turn them into creative choices, and to be real:) She coaches you to have a working understanding of both the emotional and technical side of acting, and know the acting terms and how they are utilized. It's a safe place to play and learn and grow, ultimately incorporating all of these ideals so that you are a fearless, respected working actor in this industry. Actor training is based on the Meisner Method. It's a very natural way of acting and encourages the actor to trust their instincts, be in the moment; organic and real. Often I will hear feedback from parents and their LA agent saying they don't want cookie cutter acting robots who "perform" but check out mentally while acting.

" Linda McAlister, Linda McAlister Talent, Dallas Del Shores directing Emerson Collins in his film Southern Baptist Sissies Dear Actors & Writers: I'm excited to come back to Dallas and teach one more time this year before I shoot my new film A VERY SORDID WEDDING this October in Dallas! I've chosen my four most popular and fun workshops for you! Hope to see you in July! Del Shores DEL SHORES' DALLAS WORKSHOPS Writing From An Actors Point of View - 7/16 Trust Your Gut Audition Workshop - 7/18 Audition Bootcamp - 7/18 Master Scene Study - 7/19 "It is great to know we have such a professional source for training right in our own back yard! I recommend Del all the time to actors at all stages of their careers." Suzanne R. Horne, Horne Agency, Dallas, TX ********** WORKSHOP #1 WRITING FROM AN ACTOR'S POV WORKSHOP July 16th - 6PM - 10PM LIMITED TO 14 WRITERS Location TBA This workshop is designed to explore how acting and writing are connected. In one jammed-packed night, we will discuss creating characters, dialogue and (briefly) the different structures of stage, film and television. The main focus is teaching you how to allow your characters and story to dictate the creative path and even structure. Throughout the night, we will complete a few, fun, brief writing assignments on the spot, culminating with you writing a two-character scene for two of your classmates to cold read. The law of least effort is stressed as well as WRITING SHOULD BE FUN! This workshop is designed to inspire those interested in writing by focusing on character and story. It is also for those who need a dose of inspiration to start or complete that project that is sitting in your drawer or in your head! All levels are welcome. Just bring a writing pad, pencil or pen, iPad or computer and a willingness to trust your gut, not censoring your creativity! Writing From An Actor's POV - The Artists Playground "Del's writing workshop opened my eyes and my mind to creating characters from the ground up, from the inside out, and my one scene (we write and we act) hit me like a ton of truth." - Gregory Mansur T.C.U. Professor - Film, Television, Digital Media Department "Del really knows how to teach writing in a way that is "actor friendly" and easy to understand, overall an AMAZING experience. Sign me up again!" - Parker Conley "Del not only helped me see the importance of giving each character a distinct and unique voice, but gave me the tools and knowledge I need to achieve it." - Brina Palencia WORKSHOP #2 TRUST YOUR GUT (AND GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD!) WORKSHOP Saturday July 18th - 9am to 1pm LIMITED TO 14 ACTORS (all ages) Location TBD Each time I sit in an audition session or watch taped auditions, I see actors make the same mistake over and over. THEY DO NOT TRUST THEIR GUT! Great actors second guess the choices that their instrument, their instincts, what THEIR GUT dictates. Many strong actors then get in their heads, and make safe choices and their work suffers as a result. Why? One word. FEAR! You start questioning -- "Is this choice too risky?", "Am I even right for this role?" "Maybe they want (fill in blank)", "Maybe they want more.", "Maybe they want less." "Maybe they don't want me!" The monkeys start chattering in your head and the work is doomed! Diluted as a result. I f you are second guessing your choices, your gut... if you change those organic "gut" choices, it is my strong opinion that your work is suffering as a result and you are costing yourself callbacks and JOBS! So, let's spend a few hours of fun, trusting our gut and getting out of our heads, making strong choices, taking risks and changing how you audition. This workshop is very simple. You show up with NOTHING prepared. I will supply you with two roles during the day. One will be a short monologue and the other will be a role in a group scene. I will guide you through making fast, from-the-gut, risk-taking, STRONG choices. You will have 15 minutes to go out and work on the monologue, 10 minutes to work on the group scene, then you will return with one rule -- YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE CHOICES that you have made FROM YOUR GUT in our rapid-fire decision making process. I'll start the day with a 30-minute lecture/discussion, then we will get to work. All ages and all levels are welcome. Following this workshop with AUDITION BOOT CAMP is highly recommended if you really want to improve your auditioning skills! NOTE: I will be using a camera and monitor for a learning tool only (no uploads). WORKSHOP #3 A UDITION BOOT CAMP WORKSHOP Saturday July 18th - 2PM - 6PM LIMITED TO 14 ACTORS (all ages) Location TBD "Del's auditioning workshops gave me confidence and changed me from hating auditions to LOVING them." - Ira Einsohn The one that always books up first returns, so grab your spot! I've designed this audition-intensive for working or ready-to-work actors. The workshop starts with a brief lecture/discussion on auditioning. Nerves, preparation, leaving to love to audition and trusting your gut are strong themes! Then we get right to work! Each actor auditions twice. 1) Prepared audition pieces - a monologue or scene that is no longer than five minutes. This is designed to focus on pieces that can be prepared in advance of an audition. 2) An "under five" - five lines or less. This audition focuses on how to make the most of auditioning for co-star roles and how to make strong choices that help make an audition distinctive with a limited amount of material. (I will send you a selection of Under 5s to choose from or you may choose your own). This workshop helps actors understand how well they are succeeding in the different kinds of auditions they will encounter will working. NOTE: I will be using a camera and monitor for a learning tool only (no uploads). "Del Shores is where I go to balance my creative PH. I constantly recommend his workshops and reel shoots to my actors - all ages! When I take one of his workshops, (and I've taken countless) I always feel creatively rejuvenated, like I've been to a spa for the child in my soul. You will laugh and cry, and always walk away feeling nurtured, challenged, and ready to attack your career. Can't recommend him enough!" - Nancy Chartier Acting Coach, Nancy Chartier Studios, Dallas, TX Master Scene Study - R.E.A.C.T. "I have been a film acting coach in Dallas for 22 years. The first time I ever saw a Del Shores workshop I knew I had to ask him to come back from L.A. to work with my actors. Del has a wonderfully intuitive, creative, caring mind and has the unique ability to evoke emotions and performances from all actors, no matter their current skill level." - Michele Condrey Acting Coach; The Michele Condrey Studio R.E.A.C.T., Dallas WORKSHOP #4 MASTER SCENE STUDY WORKSHOP Sunday July 19th * 10AM - 6PM LIMITED TO 24 ACTORS (advanced youth welcome) Location TBD "Del Shores is a brilliant teacher and director. He knows how to bring out the best in every actor and understands the importance of navigating this crazy business. He is open and generous with his experience and knowledge. Every workshop I've taken leaves me excited and enthusiastic about acting and my career. " - Kristen McCullough "Del reminded me of an important rule in acting: F**k it! Del Shores' classes are a must!" - Hannah Morris I love my scene study workshops because I get to do what I love most - direct actors! This is where you push yourself, choosing the scenes that challenge you! You may sign up with a scene partner (I love it when you do that!) or you may sign up solo and ask me to choose your partner (10 days before the workshop). The goal - get outside your comfort zone. You will choose the scene together. It should be no longer than 10 minutes and IT SHOULD CHALLENGE YOU. I will then direct you. The goal? To make that next break-through in your acting. Stronger choices, taking risks, being a fool, getting rid of those nerves, claiming your star power. And of course, a little career advice and inspiration. And you will work your craft! Although there are never rules about being in class except for your scenes, I would advise you to be there as much as possible. You will learn as much or more by watching your fellow actors -- and I promise, there is going to be some amazing work in this one! There will be an hour lunch break from 1-2. IMPORTANT NOTE: I've had flakes sign up for scene study in the past, dropping out right before, putting their scene partners and me in a horrible scramble. DO NOT sign up if you are not 100% committed to this. If you can't rehearse, if you are lazy, if you are flake -- PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP! Scene Study & Q&A - Class Act Dallas The special sold-out Del Shores workshop held by Class Act Dallas/Heavenly Muse Productions was an exhilarating and unforgettable event for all actors involved. Del's knowledge, energy, and focus amid a wide array of professional actors and challenging material awed the participants and the auditors who packed the house. - Daniel Foster Heavenly Muse Productions, Class Act Dallas DALLAS METROPLEX LOCATIONS for all workshops TBD. AUDITORS WELCOME - PRICES BELOW NOTE TO PARENTS: For the audition workshops, I welcome all ages. Please realize that many audition pieces have language and adult themes. I try and watch my own language if youth are in workshop, and I do ask for actors to disclose if an R rated scene is used, so under age can step out. Advance youth only for Writing and Master Scene Study Workshop. Language and content will NOT be censored. ***************************************************************************************** ENROLLMENT INSTRUCTIONS 1.
