The Napier Medieval Society looks to re-create life and war of the medieval times in a fun and safe way.
We are a non-profit society with the aim to recreate life (and sometimes death!) across the medieval period. We do this at events up and down the country as a form of both education and entertainment to the public. We normally offer our audiences combat displays to demonstrate mock battles and a living history encampment (LHE) for a hands on experience of medieval life. Throughout the year we offer weekly meet ups for our members to practice combat and crafts. It's perfect for members to socialise and relax in a comfortable and safe environment. Anyone 16+ is more welcome to join. Our overall aim is to offer everyone and anyone the chance to join in what ever way they wish. We offer our members the chance to learn traditional craft skills, the enactment side comes in the form of controlled pulled-blow combat. We also create for them, an environment where they can play to their strengths so they can grow, expand and learn.
Maggie's provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their families and friends. www.maggiescentres.org Maggie's offers a programme of support that has been shown to strengthen physical and emotional wellbeing. Built in the grounds of NHS hospitals, our Centres are designed by leading architects to be warm, welcoming and full of light and space. They are places to find practical advice about benefits and eating well; places where qualified experts provide emotional support; places to meet other people or simply to sit quietly with a cup of tea.
