NASA Night Sky Network (NSN) astronomy clubs host star parties and other outreach events in their communities to bring astronomy to the public! The NASA Night Sky Network (NSN) is the place to find star parties, solar gazing events, and astronomy clubs in the U.S. You can find your local club at http://bit.ly/jaR1VW. We also give you stargazing information on our Facebook page, so that you can keep up with what's going on in the sky. On Twitter, we have even more frequent updates. https://twitter.com/#!/nightskynetwork You don't need to know anything about astronomy or have a telescope to go to a star party or astronomy club meeting. Many of the public meetings offer opportunities to hear popular level talks on astronomy and some clubs even have telescopes that they loan out. We get asked a lot about what telescope to buy, but it's a very personal decision, so we recommend going to an observing session hosted by a club to see the diversity that is out there and see what might meet your needs. Club members usually love to talk about telescopes! Most events are FREE, and new members are always welcome, but you don't have to be a member to attend an event. People of all ages are welcome. Check our website or Go StarGaze, the iPhone App, for upcoming events. EarthSky Tonight is a NSN partner. We regularly feature their sky charts and articles. The Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP), manages the NASA Night Sky Network in cooperation with NASA. The ASP is the largest general astronomy society in the world, with members from more than 70 nations. Join us at https://www.facebook.com/astrosociety.
Astronomy outreach brings the wonders of the universe to people everywhere. The Night Sky Network program is dedicated to helping astronomy clubs in their outreach efforts in communities across the USA. Here we've compiled some of our activity videos, tips for club members, and videos that can help your understanding of the night sky, as well as recordings of our monthly webinars with NASA astronomers. The Night Sky Network is sponsored and supported by NASA/JPL and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. See our related links and social media to find out more about this program dedicated to astronomy outreach and education. The NASA Night Sky Network shares their time and telescopes to give you, your friends & family unique astronomy experiences at museums, observatories, classrooms, and under the night sky. Sometimes, you'll even find us at crazy places, like outside of a mattress store! https://nightsky.jpl.nasa.gov/news-display.cfm?News_ID=433
