Description
The Society is a registered Charity, and maintains the British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix and Baseline Larger Height Register, Sports Categories Register, and the International Stud Book and Register. A Championship Show is held in the first week of August each year, at The Three Counties Showground, Malvern, with classes for Riding Ponies, Hunter Ponies, Mountain and Moorland Ponies, Hacks, Part Breds Children's Riding Ponies, and new for 2011, HOYS qualifiers for Hacks, Riding Horses, Hunters, Cobs, Coloreds, Arabs, and Working Hunters. The Summer Championship Show is supported by the NPS Spring Festival held in April which also hosts the Championships from the Winter Qualifiers. Training and education is a vital part of the Charity's work, as is the all important Welfare, and to this end, the Society holds training days at several venues, and promoted the well being of Horses and Ponies through such initiatives as the the very popular 'Fit For The Future' Competition at the Summer Championships. The Society is also keen to promote Dressage, which inspired the formation of the NPS/Topspec Dressage Championships, held annually in April, to encourage both performance and education of British Bred Ponies and their Riders. To promote the interests of pony breeding and to encourage the use and protection of ponies.
