Description

The National Press Club Journalism Institute, the non-profit affiliate of The National Press Club, is committed to offering innovative, practical training to journalists and communications professionals working in a rapidly changing media environment. Our broad range of professional development programs focus on high standards, ethical conduct and best practices in the journalism business. A key component of the Institute’s mission is a competitive scholarship program that promotes diversity throughout the industry. Since 2000, the Institute has helped send more than 50 bright young people to journalism schools nationwide and realize their full potential. Many of these students have gone on to work in some of our nation’s top newsrooms, helping to ensure that our newsrooms reflect the communities they serve. The NPCJI is home to the Club’s prestigious journalism awards that recognize professional journalists who have produced outstanding work for the public, either independently or as employees of editorially independent news organizations. The NPCJI also oversees the Club’s recently renovated Eric Friedheim Library, which assists journalists in finding accurate information using the latest technology. The NPCJI is supported by individuals, foundations and corporations. All of the NPCJI’s programs are produced independent of direct corporate funding.
