Description

The Ndinawe Youth Resource Centre (NYRC) provides Aboriginal youth (13-24) a safe and supportive environment as an alternative to involvement with gangs, crime, violence and sexual exploitation. NYRC programming is aimed at improving the cultural, social and economic and personal prospects of Aboriginal youth. Finding affordable and suitable shelter is one of the biggest barriers Aboriginal youth face. Currently, Winnipeg is experiencing a housing crisis and youth with limited income and no rental history have little to no chance of finding a safe and suitable housing. Through the Housing Program Community Youth Workers will support youth in accessing resources and information related to income, housing, health and social supports to assist them in gaining stability and independence; access to life skill development and support with education and employment opportunities.
