The information on the Responsible Dog Ownership Day was confused apparently because some of the kennel clubs are unable to be there, so it was cancelled on the AKC event calendar. The event will be held with demonstrations and activities of various dog sports, info on how to get started in the show dog world and other fun things to do with your dog. Plan to come out with your pet.
We have been nominated for the Outstanding Organization award given by Association of Fundraising Professionals Oklahoma Chapter and were selected as one of three finalists. Thank you to all of our great volunteers, clients and other groups we work with to help people and their pets in the community. It is an honor.

They will be having a clinic on October 6th from 8am - noon. Their address is 5720 S Pennsylvania Ave. Oklahoma City, OK.
The Animal Resource Center in Oklahoma City has been selected as one of only 18 animal welfare organizations in the United States to host Humane College workshops as part of the non-profit organization's 2014 traveling workshop tour of the United States. The Center located at 7949 S I-35 Service Road in Oklahoma City (73149) will host two Humane College workshops on Friday, September 19. In addition, Dog Talk - KSBI 52 is sponsoring lunch for all registered attendees. Humane College is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational and professional development opportunities to individuals who work or volunteer in animal welfare. The organization offers on-line webinars free of charge as well as a traveling workshop program in select cities throughout the United States each year. In just five years, the traveling workshop series has trained thousands of animal sheltering staff, volunteers and board members from all 50 states. While distance learning has existed for years, the animal welfare industry only has two national conferences per year leaving a void for professional education and development opportunities at the local level. Humane College fills this need by bringing workshops to professionals in select cities throughout the United States each year. The two workshops being offered at the Animal Resource Center on Friday, September 19 are: A morning workshop from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM, titled AN ANIMAL SHELTER'S GUIDE TO RAISING MONEY: Now, more than at any point in history, fundraising is critical to the sustainability and long term success of any non-profit animal welfare organization. This workshop will examine where your donor dollars really come from and how an annual fundraising calendar of monthly events will help to keep the money flowing. This interactive workshop will guide each participant into development of a comprehensive, strategic plan that will help increase fundraising dollars and donors. Our workshop and plan will cover the fundraising activities from direct mail to e-mail blasts to grants to special events. and an afternoon workshop from 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM, titled, IGNITING PASSION, GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are an integral part of your brand because they provide numerous touch points for your organization. Knowing how to properly recruit, train, develop and motivate your volunteer team can have a profound impact on everything your organization does from fulfilling its mission to customer service to fundraising. We'll guide you to development of a volunteer program that will ignite passion from its core base. Registration for each workshop is between $49-89 per person per workshop and can be done through the Humane College website at www.humanecollege.com by clicking on the "register" button under Oklahoma City located on the "Workshops" page. Humane College workshops are led by Tim Crum. Crum is a highly regarded entrepreneur who is regularly sought out by national and local nonprofit organizations. Good News! The highway department and our building owners are working hard at trying to figure out a way to save our building. We are thinking positive and scheduling events for the remainder of the year.
