Description
The New Mexico Dental Foundation is the charitable arm of the New Mexico Dental Association. Major programs of the Foundation include: New Mexico Mission of Mercy, Donated Dental Services and the Annual Pre-Dental Mentor Dinner. NMDF, in partnership with the NMDA membership, continues to bring Mission of Mercy to New Mexico. The 2 day free dental clinic serves hundreds of low income New Mexicans, providing treatment they cannot afford. At NM MOM's first three events nearly 4,700 new smiles were created and over $2.8 million in free dental treatment was provided by 4,500 volunteers. The Donated Dental Services Program (DDS) is a year round program serving low income New Mexicans who are elderly or permanently disabled. These DDS clients receive new smiles at no cost from volunteer dentists and labs across the state in the offices of participating dentists. To date, over 3.5 million dollars has been donated through the DDS program. The Albuquerque Pre-Dent Mentor Dinner is sponsored by the NMDF each year. It brings Pre-Dent students from across the state together with dentists for an evening of encouragement, networking, and an opportunity to set up mentorships. Donated electric toothbrushes are shared with DDS patients and other underserved New Mexicans who can benefit from them. NMDF administrates the Dentist Relief Fund. This account, funded by dentists, assists dentists who are experiencing practice threatening situations.
