I utilize CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) in my business because I believe that western (traditional) and eastern medicine should be used in conjunction with one another and not alone. My passion is aromatherapy…I enjoy using, teaching and learning about the many scientific benefits of essential oils. I believe that the body has a unique ability to heal itself when given the proper support. I use only therapeutic-grade essential oils during my aromatherapy sessions to relax and rejuvenate the body and mind because a stressed body is less able to heal itself. I offer AROMATHERAPY SESSIONS in the home, nursing home and hospital settings. These one hour sessions encompasses different techniques based on the acuity and tolerance level of the patient with the goal of delivering essential oils with a therapeutic touch. I start by transforming the environment into an atmosphere which promotes healing and relaxation by dispersing essential oils into the air by diffusion. The oils used are chosen based on the individual’s needs and health concerns. After talking with the patient and/or family members the focus of the session becomes clear and I choose oils specific to their concerns; whether it’s to promote health or support the body’s natural defenses in its battle with dis-ease. The three main techniques use to deliver the oils apart from diffusing include: Light Therapeutic Massage…incorporating my gentle touch to deliver diluted essential oils. Lymphatic Pump…to increase circulation which is an excellent tool for patients who are sedentary or bedridden. Vita Flex…using a rolling motion over different points on the hands and feet to deliver the benefits of the essential oils throughout the body. These techniques can be used with or without essential oils if you choose for diffusion to be the only form of delivery. The benefits of the EO’s are endless physically and emotionally. Many of the oils have antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties rendering them priceless in the hospital and nursing home setting. The main oil I use in the sessions is Valor due to its ability to balance the body’s electrical energies helping patients to gain courage and confidence. It supports the body ability to overcome fear and opposition when facing adversity which is what patients deal with on a daily bases. After the session I leave the recipient feeling relaxed with reduced anxiety and feeling peaceful and loved; then wait to hear the positive effects it had on my client’s medical conditions.
