Description

Each year in September, NEWTS Orientation welcomes upper-year international students, exchange students, students from other universities, and students who have spent their first year at Herstmonceux Castle to Queen's University. The 4-day Orientation period provides an introduction to both the Queen's campus and the Kingston area, and informs students of the opportunities and services available to students during their time at Queen's University. ARE YOU A PAST NEWT OR GECKO? Help us spread the word by following the instructions in this note: http://www.facebook.com/note.php?saved&&note_id=204785962951272&id=204601662969702 1. "Like" the Newts Orientation page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Newts-Orientation/204601662969702 2. Share this link with anyone and everyone you think would be interested in participating! 3. Talk to your friends/classmates/etc. and let them know that being a Gecko is a great experience that they should consider applying for. 4. Now the fourth way you can help out is more complicated, but we think will be very effective and a lot of fun! Here it is: On the Newts Orientation page, we would like to start a collection of photos/posts/videos/notes that you find to be representative of your Newts Orientation experience. Photos: - Upload one or more photos from Newts week and explain their significance in the "description" section. Posts: - On the page's wall, post a word that you think describes with Newts Week with the hashtag #onewordfornewtsweek - Write a short message telling people why they should apply to be a Gecko! Notes: add a note to the group about your Newts week experience. This is similar to the post concept, but notes are great because it allows people to look at each note individually rather than a long list of posts on the wall. Videos: Post a video of yourself talking about your Newts Week is important to you. To give you some ideas, here is a list of subjects/questions you might want to respond to: 1. Describe your Newts Week experience. 2. What is your favourite memory of Newts week? 3. Why would you encourage someone to apply to be a Gecko? 4. What makes Newts week special? 5. What can Geckos expect from this experience? 6. What's one word to describe Newts week?
