Free, weekly, timed 5km running events for all! Held on Throsby Creek Path, Carrington. Since its inception, parkrun has grown to have over 100 events held every Saturday morning in countries such as the United Kingdom, Denmark, Iceland, Poland, South Africa, Australia and even the Camp Bastion British military base in Afghanistan!

The event starts and finishes near the Newcastle Rowers Club shed at Carrington (water end of Arnold St). Simply jump onto the website to become a global parkrun member or go to the Newy parkrun website for full details: Newy parkrun info: http://www.parkrun.com.au/newy/ Register: http://www.parkrun.com.au/register/ Once registered, you can print your personal barcode and bring it along each week to record a finish time. You can use the same barcode at any of the 800+ parkrun locations around the World or 165+ across Australia. But remember, no barcode, no result - ie: if you forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode, you can still participate but you will NOT record a finish time against your name. Arrive before 7.50am for a "first-timers" brief and we’ll give you the full “run” down in person. parkrun is totally free, but we ask that you volunteer at least 2-3 times per year. - Strollers are welcome - No bikes or scooters (walkers/runners/strollers only) - Children are encouraged but absolutely must be accompanied by an adult if under 11yo - Dogs - well behaved, well controlled dogs on a short lead are welcome (one per runner/walker). Clean up after you dog!
