NLASLPA STUDENT MEMBER FEATURE: This month's student shout out is to Laura Bonnell! Check out her Q&A below! #nlaslpa Name: Laura Bonnell Hometown: Churchill Falls, NL... School: University of Toronto Year in Program: 1 What inspired you to follow/pursue this career choice? I love the brain and how it works and I love language. I wanted to be able to help people in a therapy setting where goals could be met and progress could be seen. What are your areas of professional interest? I don’t have one particular area that I’m interested in. I’d be happy in any area that I’ve learned about thus far. Finish this sentence: You know you’re an AUD/SLP student when… you get on the subway listening to how people are communicating and worrying about if the driver is wearing proper hearing protection. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I have no idea, somewhere with a job, hopefully! I’m just going to go wherever the wind takes me! If you couldn’t be an AUD/SLP, what would you be? I think it’d be fun to be a tour guide. You’d meet new people every day and learn with them! Tell us one thing most people don’t know about you. I’m a pretty open book so it’s hard to think of something that people don’t know about me. Oh! I hate bar soap. It doesn’t come up in regular conversations but I only use liquid soap and body wash. What is your favorite therapy resource/tool? Bubbles
