“Book it!” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW Lovely B & B. Really close to the centre of York. Friendly welcome. Lovely room. Lots of extras, toiletries, homemade biscuits, bottled water, and a nice little bottle of milk for hot drinks. Much nicer than those horrible cartons! Free wifi, with code in room. Great to with smart tv so you can watch catch up if you wish. We had the Yorkshire breakfast - it was delicious. Will be visiting again! "A relaxing base for 3 day buisness trip" I only needed two nights in York in order work close by and No 21 was a perfect base to relax in the evening and set me up for a good day in the morning. As I needed to leave early the hosts accommodated for me and made my breakfast to order at any time I'd like. The room was very clean with attention to detail and included everything. The breakfast was of an exceptional standard regarding presentation, cooking and locally source high quality ingredients. Would recommend to a friend. “Great place, excellent value.” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW Booked a few nights here at very short notice as I had been quite ill and wanted to relax before I went back to work. What an excellent choice for a short break! York is a city I know well having studied there, there is fierce competition amongst the various guest houses and hotels, but in my opinion, if you are looking for a lovely, very reasonably priced, well appointed and comfortable place to stay slap bang in the city centre then Number 21 is the place for you. Lots of lovely little touches like biscuits, fresh milk a well stocked tea tray and a gift box of smellies truly make this a step above the normal, run of the mill guest house experience. The bed was comfy, and well stocked with pillows and cushions for relaxing on. The décor is nice, it was spotlessly clean. I can not speak highly enough of the owner, the phrase "above and beyond the call of duty" could have been invented for him. His care and attention to detail was second to none. The breakfast was sublime, I could barely move by the time I'd eaten! The only thing I didn't like was not having an en suite, my bathroom was just across the corridor from my room. Being a lone female I would have preferred an en suite, but as I only booked the day before I went it was the only room available. Other than that, it was perfect for me, near to town, very well appointed, excellent and personal service from the owner, friendly staff, fantastic food, lots of nice homely touches at an astounding price. Well done to Simon and his staff. I will certainly return, and I hope to be in better health the next time I stay there. Highly recommended... Room Tip: Lovely room, but would have been happier with an en suite as I was a lone female traveller, my tip... Make sure you book early, this is a popular hotel and rooms get snapped up quickly Stayed January 2015, travelled solo 5 of 5 stars Sleep Quality 5 of 5 stars Cleanliness 5 of 5 stars Service
"Lovely place with lovely people" After checking in late on Friday night we were immediately welcomed by Simon who helped point out restaurants and places of interest. The breakfast was of very good quality and made to order. During the whole stay nothing was any trouble and we were made extremely welcome. My fiancée and I would not hesitate in booking another short break at No 21. The hotel was clean and the room was very cosy. Also very convenient location in relation to York City centre. Would recommend to a friend. Rooms: 5 Value: 5 Friendliness: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Facilities: 4 Staff Service: 5 Location: 5 Breakfast: 5
“Perfect weekend away!” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago We wanted a weekend away where we could see a theatre show, go sightseeing and shopping, and York has it all. We thought about where we wanted to stay and the location of no 21 is perfect as we didn't need to use the car at all once we got there, everything is within a 5-10 minute walk. The B&B is very homely, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. We were greeted by simon who gave us some great recommendations of places to eat and see. The room was lovely, and having the little extras like homemade biscuits each day and fresh bottled water were lovely. The breakfast is to die for!! So much choice and all delicious. We would definitely return on our next trip to York. Thank you Simon and Andrea, you are great hosts . “Great location, fab breakfast” 4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago Room fine with lots of nice touches like bathrobes, slippers, cotton sheets and a mini-fridge with bottled water and fresh milk. Slight niggles with bathroom dealt with immediately and without fuss. Breakfast fresh, plentiful, imaginative and beautifully made, with lots of choice. Location, near the station and just outside the city walls, was perfect for traveling without a car.
"Excellent accommodation near city centre but in a quiet area" Excellent accommodation within easy walking distance of the city centre but in a quiet residential area near a lovely park which you can walk through during the day. Nice room with all the facilities needed and a great breakfast to set you up for the day. Tremendous choice for breakfast too but could not resist the full english, probably the best I have ever had. “Lovely York” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW Stayed 2 nights, first impression very clean and modern. Room was also very clean and bed large and comfortable, room temperature was good as sometimes to warm in places. Little fridge in room with fresh milk and the tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were replenished. There is no lift so you do well to book or ask for a lower floor if you need to. The owners friendly and laid back, interested in what you were up to without being to intrusive. As other reviews have said the breakfast is very good, full breakfast, American, continental or a mixture. About half a mile from centre of York prob 10min steady walk, located in a quiet street with not much passing traffic so no noise from outside, couldn't hear any noise from other rooms either. I would def stay again if stopping in York and recommend to others.
“Wonderful city break” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW This is such a great B&B. Fantastically comfortable bed with plenty of good quality pillows; a brilliant breakfast (all home made and locally sourced). And some wonderful little details that made all the difference - bathrobes in the room, nice biscuits. All this and the central location make it a steal at the price. We'll be booking again, for sure!
“Fantastic stay” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW Upon arrival was kindly greeted by Simon. Was very helpful regarding what was around York and gave us a map so we could get around easily. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice including locally sourced food and also home made food. The room was clean, nicely decorated with a lovely en suite. Whilst having breakfast our room was also cleaned, very efficient. Highly recommended b&b, will definately go back. Thank you for a lovely stay No.21. “Guaranteed satisfaction” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW via mobile Me and my partner have stayed here before. We came back because we were so impressed with the excellent customer service we received from Simon. He is an excellent ambassador for his business. Had time for all of his guests, even when busy. Taking the time to chat, ask them about their plans, recommend when asked about places to eat, visit, etc. We will be visiting again in the future and I am always recommending him to friends and family when I know they are visiting York.
