North Road Theatre is holding an open casting call for a young male actor to fill a major role in our upcoming production of The Unplugging, written by First Nations theatre pioneer Yvette Nolan. Sudbury’s production of The Unplugging will be the first one east of Vancouver, where it won the 2013 Jessie Award for Outstanding New Play. The production goes into rehearsal in mid-December, and will play for two weeks in January in both Sudbury and North Bay. The cast features nationally acclaimed First Nations actor Michaela Washburn alongside Sudbury’s own multi-talented phenomenon Pandora Topp. We’re looking to fill the role of Seamus, a teenage boy, the third character in this tight trio of characters. Auditions will be held in North Bay on November 6 and in Sudbury on November 12. To book an audition, interested actors should contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Wow! Daniel Aubin’s review of Muskeg & Money in today’s issue of Le Voyageur: he calls it “completely promising as a first production” of North Road Theatre. Mansel Robinson’s play is “brand new”… “an absolutely brilliant text”…. the set is “minimalist but striking“… and the performances are “fabulous“...
Daniel Aubin nous a donné une excellente critique dans Le Voyageur cet apres-midi! Thanks for the great review Dan Aubin at the Voyageur newspaper!
Great show tonight - a benefit for Mayworks - an almost full house - and a great standing ovation to wrap up the evening. Very nice!
Muskeg & Money has been described so far as taking the audience through a range of emotions, not the least of which is laugh-out-loud humour. Enjoy all the entertainment in our fully licensed theatre. Wanna grab a beer or a glass of wine while you watch the show? Go for it!
Our opening night ended with a tremendous standing ovation. Thank you to everyone for making tonight such a success. For those who couldn't be there, there will be performances of Muskeg & Money through the weekend.
