Created in 1994, the Northern Vegetarian Society helps people adopt and maintain a healthy vegetarian lifestyle.
The Northern Vegetarian Society (NVS) is located in the Greater Sudbury area of beautiful northeastern Ontario, Canada. The NVS was created in May 1994. Its purpose is to help the people of the area adopt and maintain a healthy vegetarian lifestyle. Membership is continually growing and attendance and interest in vegetarianism in the area have risen as well. The NVS is run solely by volunteers. We organize vegetarian potlucks throughout the year, and offer vegetarian cooking classes twice annually. The NVS is a member of the International Vegetarian Union. We define vegetarianism as the practice of not eating meat, poultry or fish or their by-products, with or without the use of eggs or dairy products.
