Norwich Wilderness and Expedition Medicine Society (WEMS) is an organisation, led by and for, medical students interested in remote environment and expedition medicine- be it as a hobby or for those who want to pursue it as a career. The ease of international travel and the popularity of adventure tourism has meant that WEMS is becoming an increasingly important and mainstream branch of medicine. With gaps between foundation years and core training, as well as between core and specialist training, there is an opportunity for doctors with wilderness and expedition know how to get away and do something different. The society offers the chance to: 1. Meet like minded medics 2. Gain advice on getting a foothold into expeditions-network 3. Receive instruction on providing medical care in isolated wilderness settings 5. Meet with medical professionals who 4. As well head into the hills every now and again to try out whats been learnt!
