認定NPO法人＆国際NGO ロシナンテス Rocinantes was established as a non-profit organization (NPO) providing medical and health services to improve the health of people in Sudan. When the President of Rocinantes, Dr. Kawahara worked as Medical attaché and the first secretary for Sudan Embassy of Japan, he was motivated for doing something for improving Sudanese’s people’s health. He then left from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and obtained medical license issued in Sudan for starting medical services. In April 2006, Rocinantes received a certification by Cabinet Office as NPO and in August was registered as International NGO in Sudan. An origin for the name of Rocinantes comes from a skinny horse (Rocinante) in the novel Don Quixote. Like a skinny horse (Rocinante), individual ability may be inadequate but if skinny horses work together as becoming Rocinantes, something can be done. Based on this belief, Rocinantes was named.
