Description

Julia Monorchio, RMT With the greatest respect for and receptiveness to her clients’ health needs, Julia excels at providing individualized massage treatments and empowers people to play a proactive role in their own care. A mom herself, she has a special understanding of pre- and post-natal massage, and continues to add post-graduate qualifications in this specialty to her repertoire. Most recently, this entailed the completion of a labour support provider/doula class open only to RMTs. In addition to her maternity massage clientelle, Julia welcomes people from all walks of life to her practice. She firmly believes that a sports medicine approach to injury prevention and pain management can be applied to everyone. Having completed her practicum with a varsity-level track and field team, she graduated with honours in massage therapy from Toronto's Elmcrest College in 2007. After several years working in spas and multidisciplinary clinics in the Toronto area, Julia joined Ottawa’s Preston Health Collective in September 2012. When she is not busy massaging people or caring for her young son, Julia puts her history degree to good use by working as a researcher specializing in Aboriginal rights and land claims.
