Description

Ohio Cop Block is a decentralized project supported by a diverse group of individuals united by their shared goal of police accountability. The Facebook page "Cop Block" and website, Cop Block.org was founded and originated in Keene, New Hampshire. Ademo Freeman (founder) saw that there was a pressing need for this to be established due to the excessive civil rights violations and police brutality that were taking place in his hometown. After starting the website and Facebook page it was inevitable that many would follow due to the national crisis taking place which is known as a "police state." Ademo has brought us story after story about police corruption, brutality, murder, extortion, civil rights violations and etc. With such a high demand to bring awareness of these problems, state chapters began to form and then local chapters such as this. All reporting, sharing and networking a myriad of issues related to police and government corruption on every level from village,city,state and federal. Cop Blockers do not hate the police! However, we all have one thing in common. Every supporter demands police accountability and we will not stand for our constitutional rights to be infringed upon by the police. We are AMERICANS and refuse to let any government entity control, maneuver or manipulate innocent law-abiding civilians through coercion, police bullying or malice. This is why we FILM THE POLICE! Exposing wrongdoing by officers has made a huge impact on how the communities view their public servants and it keeps a high percentage of them in order when they know they are being filmed. This is what Cop Block is all about and why we are here. Our motto is: BADGES DON'T GRANT EXTRA RIGHTS.....but somehow several police feel that a shiny badge, a costume and a gun have granted them extra rights and immunity for the crimes they commit against the people. We want to change this! We want to expose corrupt departments and police who operate as nothing more than a common street gang. We also believe that the biggest threat to our safety and the safety of our family is actually the police themselves. This has to change! Our primary goal is to develop a network of locals who will film police interactions and hold them accountable for those actions. At anytime you encounter the police YOU SHOULD BE FILMING!!! I cannot stress this point enough. You as a citizen have the right to film the police and it IS protected under your first amendment right of freedom of the press! As long as you are not interfering with their investigation the police DO NOT have any legal ramifications to stop you from doing so. At anytime you encounter the police, start recording the events, and assure them you are within the bounds of the law to do so. Then if there is evidence that they have acted outside their authority and have acted under "the color of law," Submit your video asap to Ohio Cop Block page and we will make sure that not only these officers are exposed locally but they will also be exposed nationally.
