Description

Chiropractic itself is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and nervous system. Most commonly chiropractic care is used to treat conditions including but not limited to, back pain, neck pain, joint pain of the extremities and headaches. Other conditions such as muscle/ligamentous strains/sprains, sports injuries, migraines, whiplash, disc disorders, spasms, trigger points, peripheral nerve entrapments are also treated on a regular basis. Dr. Graeme treats most conditions with a combination of manual manipulation, motion palpation and active release technique. Manipulation is performed to restore joint play at dysfunctional joints and is thought to work by releasing entrapped synovial folds or plica, relaxing hypertonic muscles, and disrupting articular or periarticular adhesions. Active Release Technique, is a patented, soft tissue release system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Active release technique or ART, is used to release of reduce restrictive scar tissue and adhesions that form following injury, free muscles from adhesions to neighboring muscles and connective tissue that can cause painful movement, break up scar tissue that could contributing to numbness, pain, tingling or weakness, trigger point reduction, and help to speed recovery. Dr. Graeme's also has her masters in human nutrition and functional medicine and regularly consults on dietary and lifestyle habits which can be improved to help reduce pain and improve quality of life.
