Great Opportunities for young adults interested in Policy!!! OK Policy is pleased to announce two exciting opportunities for Oklahoma college students. We are currently accepting applications for Fall Interns and Research Fellows. Students working with OK Policy have a wide range of opportunities to conduct research, write blog posts, and contribute to OK Policy projects and events. We invite all interested candidates to apply; the deadline for both programs is Friday, August 28th. Fall Internship Students are encouraged to apply for a paid part-time internship during the fall of 2015. Interns will be expected to work between 10 and 20 hours per week, depending on their schedules and availability. The position will be based in our Tulsa office, with occasional opportunities to work from home or school. Eligible students should have completed at least four semesters of college coursework or be pursuing a graduate degree. Click here for more information on the internship positions and for instructions on how to apply. Research Fellowship OK Policy invites graduate students to apply to be part of our third class of Research Fellows for 2015-16. The Research Fellowship program is intended to support top-performing graduate students at Oklahoma universities who are conducting promising public policy research and to provide them an opportunity to communicate their research towards a broader public audience. Students in any academic discipline who are: a) actively enrolled in a graduate program at an Oklahoma university in the fall of 2014, or b) residing in Oklahoma while completing a graduate program out-of-state, are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to students whose research addresses public policy issues of direct importance to Oklahoma. Click here for more information on the Research Fellow program and for instructions on how to apply. The deadline for applying to both programs in Friday, August 28th. Students wishing to be considered for both an internship and Fellowship should apply separately.

Sharing ~ It’s time to submit nominations for the 30th annual Governor’s Disability Employment Awards! Each year during October, the Office of the Governor, in conjunction with the OKDHS Developmental Disabilities Services Division and the Department of Rehabilitation Services, holds the Governor’s Disability Employment Awards ceremony to honor outstanding achievement in employment of persons with disabilities. This is an excellent opportunity to recognize deserving employees with disabilities, the businesses that provide the employment, and reporters or media organizations that publicize disability work programs. A panel of judges will consider all nominations. Those selected will be honored during a special ceremony on Thursday, October 29th. All winners and the persons who nominated them will be notified of their selection and given information about the awards ceremony. The deadline for receipt of all nominations is Wednesday, September 4, 2015. For a copy of the form to submit a nominee in each category: employee, business and media, or if you have any other questions about the awards ceremony or the nomination process, please contact Melissa Gituma, Programs Field Representative, Developmental Disabilities Services, OKDHS at 405-522-5167. Please consider submitting a nomination or forward this opportunity to anyone who might be interested.
