Description

On the Move is a national initiative designed to increase the opportunities for inactive girls and young women (ages 12-16) to participate and lead in sports and physical activity through engagement in fun-filled, supportive, female-only programs. The girls and young women participating in On The Move will provide direction as to what activities they want to pursue and will have opportunities to take on leadership roles and share their knowledge and skills throughout the course of the program. It is important to us that girls and young women are heard and are able to take ownership over their physical activity and details of the program. Over the course of 60 weeks the On the Move program will travel to five different neighbourhoods utilizing facility space at schools and community centres to offer the program. Each locations session will be 12 weeks long, with the program operating once a week for two hours. Our next location will be at Centreville-Chicopee Commuity Centre and will begin on February 14 and run for 12 weeks on Fridays from 4-6 pm. This session is for girls aged 14-18 only. Registration is required.
